Following is a list of tutorials and co-ops in Rutherford County and nearby areas (within approx. 30 min).
What is the difference between a co-op and a tutorial?
A co-op is a parent-led organization. Classes are taught by parents, and all parents are typically required to stay at the location to help in some capacity. Fees are generally very low and typically include cost of facility rental, class supplies, and possibly insurance.
A tutorial is taught by hired tutors, often credentialed teachers or other experts on a subject. Children are
dropped off and parents are not typically required to stay except for a few volunteer helper days. Fees tend to be significantly higher because they include all of the fees required for a co-op, as well as salaries for tutors.

Private Church Co-ops
You may also find co-ops run by church homeschool groups that are not open to the public. New Vision, Northside Baptist, and World Outreach are some examples of churches that have had co-ops at some point and may or may not currently have an active co-op group. These are typically run privately by moms at the church and are not sponsored/managed by the church itself. Ask around for more info.
Create your own!
There is a great need in our area for more true co-ops. If you have a talent for organization or a passion for teaching, gather some friends or put out feelers in this group and start your own learning community! You do not need to be a professional or have any formal legal status to start learning together. Get together, come up with a plan, and make it what you want it to be.
